Welcome to the In-Game section of the Athens by Night site. All information in this section is considered common knowledge to anyone residing in or entering the city of Athens. The city of Athens holds two major distinctions. The first, which is widely known, is that it is the home of the University of Georgia. The second, which is only whispered about in circles neigh impossible to get into, is that Athens was the east coast's only Vampire Free State. Not like the Anarch Free States of California, Athens was a governed land of neutrality. All Kindred were welcome in the city, including Sabbat, Camarilla members, Anarchs, and even Red List members on occasion.

This has changed in recent months, however, as the Tremere Gaston LeFete bloodlessly seized the city in the name of the Camarilla.

The city is now governed by the Kaleb, Prince of Athens and the Primogen Council.

Obviously, this is not the first government or Sect to attempt to control the city. In fact, the Camarilla established itself here in the city in the early 1990's. Though the city often had Archons visiting in order to attempt to control the peace, the city often resembled more of a band of Anarchs than a Camarilla city. The title of Prince persisted, but little else of the Camarilla did. The traditions were openly mocked and often times outright ignored. Maybe this is what led to the Sabbat's entry into the domain. Nearing the millennium, the city was contested in a brutal struggle between the Camarilla and the Sabbat. The Sabbat for years had been setting up deep cover packs in the domain, but each time before, they were unsuccessful. This time, the numbers were overwhelming and the then newly made Prince, Richard Warwick, abandoned the city to the Sabbat. This was of course a ploy to get the Sabbat on the defensive, but ploy or not, the Sabbat took control of the domain of Athens and withstood the lingering members of the Camarilla that stayed. Many were converted, but some stayed to cause further havoc to the already unstable lifestyle of the Sabbat. Some time after the Camarilla left, they sent in a task force of assassins to remove the Sabbat from their city. Though the group was slaughtered, so were many of the Sabbat that resided in the domain. This weakening of numbers, along with the emergence of other supernatural enemies forced the Sabbat leadership to flee south to Florida. The city was recovered by the Giovanni shortly thereafter, and, after a period of time, a supernatural balance was restored through unknown Giovanni means. The city was then reopened to all Kindred who wished to reside in Athens under the Charter of Athens. This charter remained in place until a vote was held in November of 2002, spear-headed by powerful Camarillists, dissolving the Charter and electing Talen of Clan Nosferatu Dictator-for-Unlife. This lasted until the Tremere Gaston LeFete seized the city for the Camarilla in December of 2002.
